On March 5, Nadiia Lents, a graduate of the Driving School for people with Disabilities of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, successfully passed her exam and received a driving licence of category B at the Territorial Service Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She had been dreaming of this for almost 10 years.

Nadiya Lents is the head of the Odesa regional branch of “The All-Ukrainian organization the Union of Organisations of People with Disabilities of Ukraine” and the head of “the Baltic Organisation of People with Disabilities”. She was awarded the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree for her outstanding achievements in public activities.

Nadiya says she decided to learn to drive because it was her long-held dream. "Today, I am very happy that our region has joined the “No Barriers” programme , too and people with disabilities can learn driving skills and get a driving licence," says the Driving School graduate.

I have spent for 4 weeks studying theory at the Driving School of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs and more than a month doing practical training on a specially equipped car. It is very convenient that during the training period, the students of the Driving School are provided with a room for living, equipped with everything that is needed for people with disabilities. From now on, I will be able to drive freely around the districts of our Odesa region and continue to be actively involved in social activities," says Nadezhda Lents.
