Study visit by cadets from OSUIA to the «Odesa Detention Center»
Тhird-year cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police OSUIA of Ukraine visited the «Odesa Detention Center», a state institution.
The purpose of the event is to familiarize participants with the activities of the institution, the conditions of detention of persons taken into custody, as well as the practical aspects of organizing the regime of the Detention Center within the framework of the current criminal procedural and criminal enforcement legislation.
The meeting with the cadets was conducted by the deputy head of the Investigative Detention Center for Social, Educational, and Psychological Work of the «Odesa Investigative Detention Center», Lieutenant Colonel of Internal Service Oleh Panychenko, who spoke about the specifics of the facility's operation, the procedure for accepting, registering, and placing detainees, inspection procedures, ensuring rights, and conditions of stay.
Special attention was paid to the specifics of the criminal environment in conditions of isolation – in particular, the peculiarities of the behavior of different categories of persons held in the Detention Center, as well as the challenges faced by staff in their daily work.
During the tour, the cadets inspected:
• cells for holding suspects;
• separate cells for minors;
• recreation rooms for detainees;
• courtyards for walks.
The visit was organized by Artem Pytomets, lecturer at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics of OSUIA.
