OSUIA: Ukrainian scientific and practical conference «Observance of Human Rights and Freedoms by the National Police of Ukraine in the Context of Global Challenges»

The Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted the Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Observance of Human Rights and Freedoms by the National Police of Ukraine in the Context of Global Challenges of Today". During the conference, theoretical and practical issues of observance of human rights and freedoms in the context of global challenges were discussed.

 

The Vice-Rector of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor, Police Colonel Maksym Kornienko, Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Activities and Innovations of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Police Major Maksym Romanov , representative of the Information Rights Commissioner Yulia Derkachenko, Deputy Head of the Department - Head of the Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination Monitoring Division of the Department of the Main Inspection and Human Rights of the National Police of Ukraine, PhD in Law, Police Colonel Iryna Zalialova, Head of the Department of the Main Inspection and Human Rights of the Main Police Department in Odesa Region, Police Colonel Vitalii Kapuliak delivered welcoming speeches.

 

 

The conference was held in three discussion platforms:

 

- Innovative approaches to ensuring human rights observance by the National Police of Ukraine;

 

 

- Ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of vulnerable groups;

 

- International standards and international assistance to ensure respect for human rights in police activities under martial law and in the post-war period.

 

 

Each platform was followed by heated discussions, during which the participants, including university students and postgraduates, had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers.

 

 

It is also worth noting that the conference was attended by practitioners from different regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk Oblast, as well as lawyers, representatives of NGOs, Council of Europe experts, etc.
 

 

The discussions resulted in recommendations and proposals that formed the basis of the conference resolution.
