Psychology of personal development of police officers in professional activity during martial law discussed at OSUIA

The Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted a scientific and practical conference «Psychology of Personal Development of a Police Officer in Professional Activity during Martial Law».

The event brought together scholars and practitioners of psychology to increase the level of psychological preparedness and preserve the mental health of police officers under martial law.

 

 

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector of the University Maksym Korniienko. The participants were greeted by: Andriy Kostiuk, Head of the Psychological Support Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; Dmytro Zhuravlev, Deputy Head of the Department for Citizenship, Pardons, State Awards - Head of the Pardon Department of the Office of the President of Ukraine; Dmytro Shvets, Rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs; and Oksana Vasyutynska, Head of the Psychological Support Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Region.

 

 

The key areas of the conference were the formation of a police officer's personality at different stages of professional development; mental and autopsychic competence of police officers under martial law; self-regulation of negative mental states and stress resistance of police officers in today's conditions; improvement of the theoretical and methodological foundations of personal development of police officers under martial law; ways to promote mental health of Ukrainian society, etc.

 

 

The participants of the conference expressed their opinions and offered new proposals to increase the level of professional and psychological readiness of police officers to effectively perform functional tasks in wartime. Participants also had the opportunity to present their research and participate in discussions with leading scientists and practitioners in the field of psychology.

 

 

 

The event included a presentation of the monograph “Psychology of Personal Development of a Defender of the Motherland” prepared by the academic staff of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the OSUIA.

 

 

Following the conference, a resolution was approved on the main directions and features of the system of protection and promotion of personal development of police officers in the process of professional training and recovery during martial law.
