Presentation of methodological and practical recommendations in OSUIA
On August 1, the University held a presentation of methodological and practical recommendations "Features of the police response to cases of domestic violence in the families of participants of hostilities," prepared at the request of the Department of Preventive Activities of the Main Department of the National Police in the Odessa region with the assistance of the NGO "Public Movement" Faith, Hope, Love".
With a welcoming speech to the participants and participants of the presentation addressed:
- Rector of the University Dmytro Shvets, who noted the importance of developing recommendations in today's conditions;
- Head of the Department of Interaction with Communities of the Department of Preventive Activities of the MDNP in the Odessa Region Roman Kuzmich, who provided statistical information on cases of domestic violence in the families of military personnel and war veterans, and also emphasized the relevance of methodological recommendations for practical workers;
- A trainer-adviser on interaction with communities of the European Union Advisory Mission Ian Danko, noted that the training of police officers on responding to cases of domestic violence in the families of combatants is extremely relevant, and the prepared guidelines will help police officers improve the effectiveness of intervention in such situations.
The presentation continued with speeches of the authors of methodical and practical recommendations, which:
outlined the history of the idea of preparing recommendations;
stressed the importance of taking into account the physical and psycho-emotional state of offenders from among the participants in hostilities;
demonstrated the nature of the origin of the aggressive behavior of the offenders, due to their participation in hostilities;
stressed the importance of using de-escalation techniques and reducing aggression;
stressed that there is no excuse for domestic violence;
focused on the importance of informing the police of offenders from among the participants in hostilities about the services of psychological, social and legal assistance and support available in the community;
outlined further plans and prospects for cooperation to prevent and counter domestic violence in the families of participants in hostilities.

All participants of the presentation received a copy of methodological and practical recommendations.
