OSUIA discussed topical aspects of forensic and psychological support for law enforcement

On 6 October, the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics and Psychology and Pedagogy held the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "Actual Aspects of Criminalistics and Psychological Support of Law Enforcement".

 

The participants were greeted by the Rector of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets, Head of the Psychological Support Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Lieutenant Colonel Andrii Kostiuk, Director of Odesa Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Candidate of Law Oleh Kostin, and Director General of the Odesa Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine,Tetiana Papizh.

 

 

The Rector of the University emphasised: "The conference is being held at an extremely difficult and crucial moment in the development of modern international relations. On the one hand, the world community has entered a qualitatively new stage of its historical development, which is characterised by the universalisation and globalisation of international relations, the formation of a common economic, legal and information space, and the development of common approaches to ensuring human rights. The authority of the state and our victory depend on how effectively citizens' rights, freedoms and interests are protected. Therefore, the current stage of development of the National Police of Ukraine, as never before, requires a decisive increase in the effectiveness of research work in criminalistics and psychology, which must be linked to current practical problems".

 

 

The conference was held in the following areas: forensic support of pre-trial investigation under emergency legal regimes, topical issues of expert support under martial law, topical aspects of psychological support of law enforcement, and psychology during the war and post-war reconstruction.

 

 

Presentations were made by Colonel Oleksandr Chekryhin, Director of the Emergency Prevention Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine; Andrii Novikov, Head of the Department for the Search for Persons Missed in Special Circumstances, Police Colonel, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine; Olena Sliusarenko, Deputy Director General for Expert Work of the Odesa Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine; Andrii Krupnyk, Director of the Odesa Institute of Social Technologies, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor; Andrii Krupnyk, Professor of the Department of Criminalistics and Forensic Science, and of Pedagogy of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor Olha Smirnova, Professor of the Department of Criminalistics and Premedical Training of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor Ihor Pyrih, Chief Psychologist of the Free and Happy Charitable Foundation, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor Vanda Buhanova, Researcher at the Department of Scientific Work Organisation of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Journalist Olesia Nitsevych, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences,Professor Iryna Buzhyna.

 

 

The resolution was passed at the end of the conference.
