Measures to introduce the latest technologies and modern teaching methods into the practice of combating crime were held on the basis of OSUIA

Between April 7 and May 9, the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs held a short-term advanced training for academic staff who teach the disciplines of criminal procedure and forensic science in educational institutions with specific learning conditions. A total of 115 academic staff from different regions of Ukraine took the training.

 

The speakers during the training were highly respected stakeholders - heads of structural units, the most experienced law enforcement practitioners and well-known national scientists. The course participants gained knowledge of the specifics of qualifying various categories of criminal offenses; the specifics of interaction between various subjects of human rights activities; and the latest approaches to detecting and investigating various categories of criminal offenses. In addition, the participants were familiarized with current problems of education, theory and practice and ways to overcome them. An important role was given to ways to improve the quality of higher education, the use of innovative teaching methods, and the application of the latest achievements of science and technology. Special attention was paid to improving educational and professional programs, ensuring academic integrity and academic mobility.

 

 

On May 9, the Odesa Center for Primary Professional Training «Police Academy» of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted a roundtable discussion «New approaches to teaching criminal procedure and forensics in higher education institutions with specific learning environments: problems of theory and practice». The Rector of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Viacheslav Davydenko, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech and congratulated the academic staff and wished them fruitful work, creative inspiration and new innovative achievements.

 

 

The Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, PhD in Law, Police Captain Oleksandr Tarasenko, who emphasized the importance of continuous improvement of the quality of education and the prompt updating and adaptation of educational programs to practical needs, noted the need to adapt the educational process to the requirements of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, delivered welcoming remarks. First Deputy Head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, Police Colonel Serhii Panteleiev, focused on the practical orientation of graduates and modern requirements for the competencies of human rights defenders.  The Deputy Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Region, Head of the Investigation Department, Police Colonel Serhii Konovalchuk, familiarized the audience with modern forms and methods of combating various types of crime at the regional level. Well-known professors Andrii Babenko, Oleksii Oderii, Hanna Teteriatnyk, Tetiana Fomina, Yuliia Chornous and other educators shared their experience of teaching and training young professionals in modern conditions.

 

 

In addition, the following issues were discussed during the roundtable: current problems of regulatory and legal support of law enforcement agencies in modern conditions; peculiarities of introduction and application of innovative forms and methods of teaching; organization and conduct of pre-trial investigation under martial law; improvement of teaching methods; main directions of introduction of scientific and technological progress into educational activities, etc.

 

 

An important event of the event was the presentation of the «Virtual Training Ground: Scene Inspection project» on the Virtual Education platform and the opening of a training complex for police officers in typical and extreme situations. Viacheslav Davydenko, Rector of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, presented the «Custody Records» system for automated recording of actions with detainees.

 

 

During the roundtable, the participants of the advanced training were presented with certificates and awarded the best scientific and pedagogical workers from different regions of Ukraine.
