Ukraine in the process of European integration
Ukraine's European integration is the process of economic, political and legal rapprochement between Ukraine and European interstate structures. This process should end with Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU).
In 2022, a new stage in relations between Kyiv and Brussels began: Ukraine was granted EU candidate status, which materialized the prospects of joining the European community, promoted further reforms, and became an incentive for the government and citizens of the country.
Ukraine's successful progress on the European path will be facilitated by the implementation of the basic reforms envisaged by the Association Agreement, as well as the implementation of the package of recommendations of the European Commission, which is a prerequisite for the start of accession negotiations.
Ukraine's European integration is taking place in the context of large-scale Russian intervention.
Obtaining candidate status is an important but not the final stage of European integration. Therefore, even in the face of war, it is necessary to keep up the pace on the path to the EU, to take advantage of the new status, to implement the reforms necessary for EU membership and to ensure conditions for Ukraine's post-war recovery in line with European norms and standards.
