Speaking Club with EUAM representatives
On 17 January, the Odesa State Internal Affairs Department hosted a Speaking Club for higher education students on the topic: ‘Conducting interrogation and questioning during the investigation/pre-trial investigation’.
The event was attended by representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM):
Desiree Hufnagel (Austria), Criminal Investigation Adviser and Trainer;
Jan Riving (Denmark), advisor and trainer on community policing.
During the Speaking Club, the participants had the opportunity to learn about European approaches to conducting interrogations and surveys during the investigation and pre-trial proceedings. Special attention was paid to the PEACE methodology, which is widely used in the European Union.
The invited experts shared their practical experience, focusing on the importance of preparing for the interview, building trust between the investigator and the interlocutor, and taking into account cultural and psychological peculiarities.
The participants also discussed community policing and the importance of cooperation in investigations.
