Educational event «People with war experience. Dignity. Interaction»
Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted an educational event «People with War Experience. Dignity. Interaction».
The meeting, within the framework of the All-Ukrainian program «How are you?», was held with the participation of: Dmytro Radulov, Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration; Anna Velichko, Advisor to the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration on Mental Health, Regional Coordinator of the program; and Yulia Yermakova, psychotherapist at the Odesa Regional Center for Mental Health.
At the beginning of the event, all those present honored the fallen Heroes of Ukraine from Odesa region, heroes-alumni of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, military, police and all defenders who gave their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of our country with a minute of silence.
- «People with war experience often face psychological and physical challenges, but it is important to ensure that their dignity is preserved during social integration,» said psychotherapist Yulia Yermakova.
One of the important elements of assistance is psychosocial support, which is aimed at restoring mental health and adapting to peaceful life. It helps reduce the risks of depression, PTSD and other consequences of war.
Successful adaptation to peaceful life for people with war experience is impossible without active interaction with society. This includes creating support communities, educational programs, and interaction projects.
A key element of the event was a discussion where participants talked about the importance of fostering mental health care in society and shared their own experiences and successful practices using specific examples.
