OSUIA: The Interuniversity Scientific and Methodological Seminar «Actual Issues of Teaching English in the Universities of the Security and Defence Sector»

In modern conditions, it is impossible to imagine higher education without quality foreign language training. The challenges of the modern world prompt to revise and improve the priorities and directions of professional training of future specialists of the security and defence sector, to form the necessary skills, among which the knowledge of a foreign language is of particular importance. The exchange of experience of scientific and pedagogical staff is of great importance in achieving this goal.

The Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted an inter-university scientific and methodological seminar «Actual issues of teaching English in the security and defence sector», organised by the Department of Language Training of the OSUIA and the Department of Foreign Languages of the Military Academy (Odesa).

The seminar aimed to exchange current thoughts and positive pedagogical experiences on foreign language training for students, driven by the state's challenges.

Due to the intensification of cooperation related to the provision of comprehensive assistance to our country by the international community as a result of armed aggression, more and more attention is paid to the development and improvement of foreign language communication competence of security and defence sector employees, since the communication competence of a law enforcement officer or military officer is a professionally important quality, as well as legal, combat and physical training. 

The scientific discussion was productive, constructive and informative. The attendees communicated with colleagues, gained new knowledge and shared methods of effective language training for future specialists.
