OSUIA received a two-volume informational publication entitled «Criminalists of the National Police of Ukraine: History and Present».

On June 25, on behalf of the leadership of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Colonel Inna Savelieva, head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in Odesa Region, presented Odesa State University of Internal Affairs with a two-volume informational publication entitled «Criminal Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine: History and Present».

 

The authors of the book are the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Police General of the 3rd rank Ivan Vyhivskyi, the First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine – Head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police General of the 3rd rank Maksym Tsutskiridze, Deputy Head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Colonel Artem Shevchyshen, Head of the Criminalistics Department of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Colonel Andrii Levytskyi, and Senior Criminalist for Special Assignments of the Criminalistics Department of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Major Olena Moskaliuk.

 

The first volume of the publication reveals the prerequisites and organizational and legal foundations for the establishment and functioning of the forensic support units of the National Police of Ukraine. It analyzes the regulatory and institutional components of the concept of separating the functions of forensic specialists and court experts. It provides general information about the territorial forensic units and outlines the specifics of their activities. It analyzes the modern technical and forensic tools used by forensic specialists of the National Police of Ukraine. It provides information about the implementation of stationary DNA laboratories.

 

The second book highlights the main aspects of the work of forensic specialists in conditions of martial law: documenting war crimes in de-occupied territories, working at crime scenes following rocket attacks on civilian infrastructure, and involving forensic specialists in ensuring the state's defense capability. It also describes the career guidance activities of the forensic support units of the National Police of Ukraine and areas of cooperation with international organizations, and reveals the main topics of training and education in various areas of activity.

 

In addition, general information is provided on public initiatives by criminal investigators from criminal investigation departments, coverage of criminal investigators' activities in the media, and scientific and sporting achievements.
