OSUIA: The III International Scientific Conference: "Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats"

On December 20, the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted the III International Scientific Conference: "Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats.

 

 

The co-organisers of the event were: Military Academy (Odesa), Institute of Naval Forces of the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy", Ivan Cherniakhovskyi National Defence University of Ukraine, Odesa National Maritime University, Institute of Criminal Law and Applied Criminology (Chisinau), Baltic International Academy, Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation.

 

 

Rector of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets addressed with the opening remarks to the participants of the III International Scientific Conference "Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats".

 

The conference participants were also welcomed by the following speakers:

 

 

Maksym Romanov - Deputy Head of the Department of Organization of Scientific Activities and Innovations of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Major of Police;

 

Shumylo Oleksandr - Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of Odessa National Maritime University, candidate of technical sciences, professor;

 

Sharov Rostislav - Deputy Head of the Institute of Naval Forces of the National University :Odesa Maritime Academy”, captain first rank;

 

 

Denis Lisovenko - Deputy Head of the Military Academy (Odessa) for scientific work, candidate of technical sciences, colonel.

 

During the III International Scientific Conference "Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats", Rector of the University Dmytro Shvets presented to the participants of the event the periodical peer-reviewed scientific journal "Maritime Security and Defense" No. 1 for 2023, which received professional registration of category "B" (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1035 of 23 August 2023), which covers the latest results of scientific research on topical issues of maritime security and defense.

 

 

The participants of the conference discussed topical issues of the day regarding the state of implementation of interregional and national maritime security strategies; cooperation of the Baltic-Black Sea region states in the field of maritime security; current military threats in the Baltic-Black Sea region and their counteraction; international and national regulatory framework for maritime security; the role of law enforcement agencies in ensuring maritime security and the activities of military formations of states in the field of maritime security.

 

 

Following the conference, a resolution was adopted, which included scientific conclusions and proposals made by the participants during the scientific event, prospective directions of further cooperation and topical issues of the IV International Scientific Conference, launched on the basis of the ODUIA, next year.
