Postgraduate (adjunct) and Doctoral Studies Department

The Postgraduate (Adjunct) and Doctoral Studies Department is an independent structural subdivision of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, which is responsible for the training of higher education applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialties 081 “Law” and 262 “Law Enforcement” and Doctor of Science in the specialty 081 Law.

 

Main functions:

 

Ensuring the training of qualified scientific, pedagogical and scientific personnel for educational institutions, research institutions, bodies and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine;

 

ensuring an appropriate level of fundamental and applied research at the university, their integration with the educational process and practical activities of law enforcement agencies, development of scientific research, its planning, organization, and implementation of the results of the latter in practice and the educational process.

 

The work of the doctoral and postgraduate programs is based on the principles of scientific rigor, democracy, academic integrity, personal responsibility and public discussion of issues within its competence.

 

The Doctoral School trains scientific and pedagogical and scientific personnel from among persons who have a doctorate (PhD), scientific achievements and published works in the chosen scientific specialty and who are able to conduct fundamental, search and applied scientific research at a high scientific level. The form of study is full-time, the term of study is 2 years, at the expense of legal entities and individuals.

 

Postgraduate studies provide training for applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from among graduates of higher education institutions by state order - full-time, 4-year study period, and at the expense of legal entities and individuals - full-time and part-time, 4-year study period.

 

Under the state order, persons with at least 2 years of practical experience after obtaining a master's degree (specialist's degree) are admitted on a competitive basis, from among civil servants and employees of the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, territorial bodies, institutions, establishments and enterprises belonging to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and police officers, civil servants and employees of the National Police of Ukraine, enterprises, institutions and organizations belonging to the sphere of management of the National

 

In the course of acquiring scientific knowledge, doctoral and postgraduate students (adjuncts) deepen their theoretical knowledge and master modern methods of scientific research. The basis for such research is the practical units of law enforcement agencies, structural units of state authorities and local self-government.

 

Research is tested in the basic structural units of law enforcement agencies, during scientific and practical conferences, seminars, round tables held at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, as well as in other higher education and research institutions in Ukraine and abroad.
