Regional Coordinator of EU-ACT Project in Ukraine has visited OSUIA

On January 24, Jose Manuel Kolodras, Regional Coordinator of the Project “EU- ACT: Actions Against Drug Abuse and Organized Crime, intensive cooperation and capacity-building for combating organized crime in drug trafficking along the “heroin route” has arrived at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.

The overall purpose of EU-ACT Project  is to contribute to the prevention and effective fight against organized crime, including illicit drug trafficking along the so-called “heroin route”.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????During the meeting the first vice-rector of the University Pavel Bernas has described the training of qualified specialists for Units of the National Police of Ukraine in higher education institutions with specific learning conditions, in particular, on the peculiarities of future police training at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, as well as on the new education system, which is formed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and gives everyone, who has come to the National Police without higher education, the possibility of development and promotion.

Jose Colodras has told about training for the National Police of Spain. A foreign specialist dwelt in detail on the fact that there are two Departments in Spain that have the appropriate authority to carry out police activities: National Police, which is civilian forces operating mainly in cities, and the Civil Guard, which is a police paramilitary formation. Both Departments are subordinated to the Ministry of the Interior.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????During the meeting issues of joint measures to counteract drug crimes were discussed, as well as directions of further cooperation in this direction were determined, in particular, the issue of holding trainings for the members of the Units of the counteraction to drug crimes from all over Ukraine was agreed upon at Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.

It should be noted that EU-ACT Project aims to create opportunities for increasing regional and interregional cooperation and coordination between law enforcement agencies in the area of combating organized crime and drug trafficking along the “heroin route”, as well as supporting the development of drug policies and measures to reduce the demand for drugs.

So, it can be noted that the meeting, which will become a guarantee of the achievement of the goals, has gone in an extremely friendly and cozy atmosphere.
