Viktor – a graduate of the “Barrier-Free Driving School” at the OSUIA – successfully passed his exam at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center in Odessa and received a Category B driver’s license. For the 40-year-old veteran with the call sign “Pokémon,” this is not just a new document, but another step toward independence following a serious injury.

Viktor is from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. After the full-scale invasion began, he stepped up to defend Ukraine. He served as the commander of an armored vehicle squad in the Luhansk sector. While carrying out a combat mission, he was seriously wounded and lost his right limb as a result. What followed was treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Viktor learned about the OSUIA “Barrier-Free Driving School” at the veterans’ hub.

“I was very lucky with my instructors at the driving school. They explained things calmly, demonstrated the techniques, and helped me get used to driving again after my injury. I also had a very positive experience at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center: everything was clear, the staff was friendly, and there was no unnecessary stress,” Viktor shares.

Now he plans to buy a car with an automatic transmission. “It’s hard for me to get around by public transportation right now. But having my own car means I can just get in and drive wherever I need to go,” our protagonist explains.

Victor continues to recover and hopes to return to the work he has been doing for over ten years – assembling and installing furniture.
