At the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, students studied the characteristics of police communication
The Odesa University of Internal Affairs held a joint practical session as part of the course “Tactical and Special Training” on the topic “Police Communication.”
The session was led by faculty members from the Department of Tactical and Special Training and Special Physical Training- Associate Professor Volodymyr Domnitsak and Senior Lecturer, Police Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen Proskurnia- in collaboration with Mark Kondratiuk, an instructor in the Department of Professional and Special Disciplines and a war veteran.
The session was also attended by the university’s vice-rectors, war veterans Serhii Kozachenko and Oleksii Ishchuk.
During the session, the students examined communication as a vital component of a police officer’s professional activities and as one of the tools for effective interaction with citizens.
Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of communication, specifically:
- establishing positive contact and building trust;
- active listening techniques;
- responding appropriately to verbal insults and provocations;
- observing conversational etiquette while performing official duties.
A separate section of the session was devoted to the specifics of police communication while on duty in de-occupied territories.
