A training session on preventing discrimination against key population groups was held at OSUIA

On July 17, OSUIA hosted a training session titled «Preventing Discrimination Against Key Populations (with a Special Focus on Patients Receiving Substitution Maintenance Therapy) by Law Enforcement Officers», organized by the NGO «Faith. Hope. Love» and the NGO «Public Health Alliance», in collaboration with OSUIA, the Department of General Inspection and Human Rights Compliance of the National Police of Ukraine, and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region.

Lieutenant Colonel Oleksii USATYI, Head of the Division for the Organization of Temporary Detention Facilities and Monitoring of Human Rights Compliance at the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region, and Police Major Kostiantyn DROMOV, a representative of the Human Rights Compliance Office of the Department of General Inspection and Human Rights Compliance at the National Police of Ukraine, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.

In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of upholding human rights in the work of the National Police of Ukraine, ensuring equal treatment for all citizens, preventing discrimination, and fostering interagency cooperation in the field of human rights protection.

The training was attended by staff members of the Department for the Organization of Temporary Detention Facilities and Human Rights Monitoring of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region, human rights inspectors serving in the territorial police units of the Odesa Region, as well as representatives of temporary detention facilities.

The event was led by Illia PODOLIAN and Nina SEMIKOP, who introduced participants to modern approaches to ensuring the rights of members of key population groups.
