On August 30-31, Kyiv hosted the All-Ukrainian Wheelchair Rugby Competition.

Wheelchair rugby is an adaptive sport that aims not only to support veterans, but also to demonstrate the strength of spirit of Ukrainian defenders.

Fifty-seven participants joined the event—veterans who lost limbs or suffered other injuries while serving. Both those with experience in adaptive sports and beginners, who were trained by coaches to help them master the game, were eligible to participate in the competition.

Andrii Delihioz, a lecturer at the Department of Professional and Special Disciplines of OSUIA, took part in the competition and demonstrated through his own example that sport is an important path to recovery and self-realization for veterans.

This event was organized by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in cooperation with the Come Back Alive Initiative Center as part of the implementation of the Veterans Policy Strategy and the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, launched on the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
