Participation of an OSUIA Professor in the Seminar «Combating the Illegal Trafficking of Firearms: Legislative and Practical Challenges»

Professor Andrii Benitskyi, Ph.D. in Law took part in the seminar «Countering the Illegal Circulation of Firearms: Legislative and Practical Challenges», organized by the European Union Advisory Mission on Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine.

The event was attended by representatives of the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Odesa Court of Appeals, members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of international organizations, and others.

 

 

During the seminar, participants discussed current issues regarding the criminal classification of the illegal trafficking of weapons, the specifics of procedural oversight of pretrial investigations, and judicial practice in adjudicating criminal offenses related to the illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition, as well as related crimes.

 

 

Seminar participants shared best practices for combating the illicit trafficking of firearms in Ukraine and European Union countries.
