Presentation of Books by Maritime Writer Anton Sanchenko at OSUIA
А presentation of books by maritime writer Anton Sanchenko took place at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs as part of the “Ex Libris” reading club. The event was also attended by the director of the publishing house Helvetika Publishing House, Oleh Holovko.
Together with the head of the club, Olha Podlisetska, students asked the author questions about the nature of creativity, discussed the specifics of novels about seafarers, and explored historical parallels with modern life.
Anton Sanchenko’s books “Kruz ta Lys” and “Krasuni obyrayut Lysianskoho” combine subtle humor with the author’s encyclopedic knowledge in portraying two navigators who completed the first circumnavigation after Ferdinand Magellan. Yurii Lysianskyi, a Ukrainian, is one of the central figures, which makes the narrative especially relatable, historically precise, and vivid.
During the meeting, the author emphasized the primacy of the Ukrainian navigator in the voyage, highlighted nuances of historical interpretation, and demonstrated the importance of diligent work in libraries and archives. Students concluded that perseverance is a key prerequisite for achieving results in any profession.
