Introductory lecture with the participation of the head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the National Police of Ukraine
On June 19, Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen ZHUK, head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the National Police of Ukraine, gave an introductory lecture to OSUIA cadets on the topic: «Illegal manufacture, storage, and distribution of drugs throughout Ukraine».
During the lecture, the issue of illegal drug trafficking was discussed in detail, in particular the activities of criminal groups in the Cherkasy region involved in the manufacture and distribution of narcotic substances.
Cadets were introduced to types of OSINT analysis (open source intelligence), including HUMINT, SOCMINT, GEOINT, and FININT.
The procedural aspects of maintaining the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and the procedure for obtaining rulings on conducting covert investigative (search) activities (СISA) were also discussed.
The cadets learned about the activities of the analytical department, which continuously collects data on new figures from open and specialized registries.
According to the cadets' feedback, the lecture was extremely informative and practical. They noted that real-life examples and an emphasis on interagency cooperation in a state of martial law greatly deepened their understanding of the importance of an innovative approach, teamwork, and digital literacy in modern law enforcement.
