Training Session on the Basics of Self-Defense

А training session on the basics of self-defense was held in the sports hall of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, organized by the Department of Tactical-Special and Special Physical Training of the university, for cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine.
The session was conducted by:
• Ihor Levitsky – President of the National Association of Makotokai Karate of Ukraine, Hanshi, 7th Dan (MKIA);
• Andriy Ostapenko – Senior Specialist of the National Association of Makotokai Karate of Ukraine, Shihan, 5th Dan (MKIA);
• Yaroslav Hordiytsiak – Senior Specialist of the National Association of Makotokai Karate of Ukraine, Sensei, 3rd Dan (MKIA);
• Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk – Senior Specialist of the National Association of Makotokai Karate of Ukraine, Sensei, 3rd Dan (MKIA);
• Varvara Honcharuk – Assistant-Methodologist of the National Association of Makotokai Karate of Ukraine, 1st Dan (MKIA).

During the session, cadets practiced basic techniques for personal safety and confident situational control in various body positions. Special attention was given to coordinated actions, movement coordination, and proper situational assessment.

In the practical part of the training, cadets worked on algorithms for safely approaching a person from different positions and performing correct restraint in standard service situations.
