Scientific and Practical Conference «Criminal Analysis and Cybersecurity: Joining Forces for New Challenges»

On May 23, the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted a scientific and practical conference entitled «Criminal Analysis and Cybersecurity: Joining Forces for New Challenges».

The event brought together experts in criminal analysis, cybersecurity, representatives of the scientific community, law enforcement agencies, and higher education students.

 

 

During the conference, the participants discussed key issues related to the integration of criminal analysis and modern technologies in the field of cybersecurity, interagency and international cooperation, regulatory aspects, prospects for the development of professional education, as well as challenges related to the rapid development of cyber threats.

 

 

Rector of the University Viacheslav Davydenko welcomed the participants and emphasized that the main goal of the event was to find ways to solve problems related to legal and organizational issues of cybersecurity in Ukraine, information protection from cyber threats, and research of problematic issues of criminal analysis development.

 

 

During the conference, a specialized classroom on the basics of cyber hygiene was opened under the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as part of the project «Strengthening the capacities of national partners to strengthen cyber resilience».

 

 

The classroom is equipped with modern laptops, cyber hygiene manuals, and a board game called Cyberelias, which helps to improve the preparation of higher education students for effective work in the face of digital challenges, cyber threats, and hybrid warfare.  

 

 

The event included panel discussions, thematic sections, and a discussion of practical experience in implementing analytical tools in law enforcement. Particular attention was paid to the use of big data, artificial intelligence, OSINT tools and digital evidence in criminal proceedings.

 

 

The conference resulted in the adoption of a resolution that outlined the main directions for the development and improvement of cooperation between criminal analysis and cybersecurity actors in the face of new threats.

The results obtained will form the basis for further cooperation, research and practical initiatives in the field of security in the context of the digital transformation of society.
