OSUIA hosted sports competition among veterans of «Strong of Ukraine»

Courageous, decisive, strong-spirited defenders with an incredible zest for life, from different regions of  Ukraine who were wounded defending the borders of our native country from the enemy, became participants in the II stage All-Ukrainian Tour of Adaptive Sports Competitions among veterans of «Strong of Ukraine». The sports event was held at the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.

The participants of the competition were congratulated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the OSU,IA, People's Deputy Oleksii Leonov, Head of the Odesa Regional Council Hryhorii Didenko, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadym Gutzait and People's Deputy of Ukraine, Honorary President of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine Vasyl Virastiuk.

"The main goal of the competition is to show the possibilities of socialization, how our heroes can show themselves not only on the battlefield, but also by demonstrating the spirit of indomitability, because they are the carriers of the code of winners. It is necessary to spread such initiatives throughout Ukraine for the socialization of our veterans. The state should take part in their life activities, and we should show respect and honor for their participation in competitions, continuing the victorious course of Ukraine and our Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine," Leonid Tymchenko emphasized.

The participants determined the best in such sports as: rowing on a simulator, bench press, air bike and kettlebell jerk. Vasyl Virastiuk, world strongman champion, became the chief judge.

The competition was organized by the Strongman Federation of Ukraine with the support of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksii Leonov and the head of the Odesa Regional Council Hryhorii Didenko.

"I am very glad that such important and necessary competitions for our Heroes, for our sports future, took place on the basis of our university. You are the ones who go  forward despite everything," said university rector Dmytro Shvets.

Graduates of higher education of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, the Military Academy (Odesa) and the Institute of the Naval Forces of the NU "OMA" also had the opportunity to join the competition.
