One of the most important events in the lives of first-year cadets took place at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs: the solemn swearing-in ceremony for Ukrainian police officers.

This day marked a special professional milestone for the first-year students. In the presence of university administrators, guests of honor, and their fellow cadets, the cadets solemnly swore to faithfully serve the Ukrainian people, uphold the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, defend human rights and freedoms and the honor of the state, and carry the high title of police officer with dignity.

The cadets were congratulated on this landmark event by Oleksiy Leonov, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, and Ivan ZHUK, a third-rank police general and chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.

After reciting the oath, each cadet received a police badge - a symbol of their membership in the National Police of Ukraine and, at the same time, of their personal responsibility for the career path they have chosen.

Ivan ZHUK, Chief of Police for the Odesa Region and Police General of the Third Rank, congratulated the cadets on taking their oath:

“I wish you and your families good health and patience, so that you may all graduate in three or four years with the same group of classmates, and we look forward to welcoming you to the force. Happy anniversary!”.

Oleksiy Leonov, a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, addressed the freshmen with words of congratulations:

“I wish each of you to become officers whom your parents, your instructors, and the university administration will be proud of - officers who will always remember for whom they took the Oath on such an important day - Defenders of Ukraine Day. You have chosen a difficult path at a very challenging time for our country, but it is the path of a worthy officer, a worthy Ukrainian.”

In his welcoming speech, University Rector Police Colonel Vyacheslav Davydenko encouraged the cadets to confidently pursue their chosen career paths, to serve with integrity and honor, and to always remain true to their oath.

For cadets, taking the oath is a conscious step from choosing a career to accepting responsibility for their future service. Ahead of them lie years of study, professional training, and the development of the qualities required of a modern police officer.

From now on, the words of the Oath should serve as a guide for each of them in their studies, service, and future professional careers.
