Cadets of OSUIA Visited the State Institution “Odesa Pre-Trial Detention Center”

As part of studying the course “Organization of the Activities of Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies,” cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for the Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine at the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, together with a lecturer of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics, Haiane Koval, visited the State Institution “Odesa Pre-Trial Detention Center.”

The topic of the session “Detention in Custody as a Preventive Measure: Procedural Aspects and Ensuring Human Rights in the Conditions of a Pre-Trial Detention Center” was presented not only in theory but also through direct familiarization with the functioning of the institution.

The tour for the cadets was conducted by the Deputy Head of the detention center for social, educational, and psychological work, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service, Oleh Panychenko.

The meeting began with an introduction to the history of the facility’s building, after which the participants had the opportunity to learn about the organization of the internal work of the detention center, the specifics of the detention regime for persons held in custody, and the practical aspects of ensuring their rights.
