First Youth Forum «Creating a world without violence together»

On December 11, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted the First Youth Forum «Creating a World Without Violence Together», organized by OSUIA in cooperation with EUAM, the Department of Chief Inspection and Human Rights Compliance, the NGO «Tenth of April» the NGO «Zv`iazok» the Ukrainian Association of Women in Law Enforcement, and the training network «La Strada Ukraine».

The event was attended by university students, representatives of the Odesa City Council High School Parliament, and members of the Odesa City Mayor's Youth Council.

The forum was opened by Maksym Korniienko, First Vice-Rector of the University; Olena Kovalova, Head of the Scientific and Analytical Training Center for Security at OSUIA; Viktoriia Tkachenko, specialist at the NGO «Tenth of April» on preventing and combating gender-based violence, and Olha Radkevych, expert on conducting training and education at EUAM.

After the introductory part, participants joined in an interactive session entitled «okay or cringe?» led by cadets Uliana Chubuk and Mykyta Melnyk.

The main part of the forum took place in the format of thematic stations:

 1. «Digital security and cyber violence».

 2. «Take off your rose-colored glasses: gender stereotypes and their harm».

 3. «What to do in a dangerous situation?»

 4. «Nonviolent communication».

After completing their work at the stations, participants joined in an interactive signing of a pledge: «I promise to do at least one thing to combat violence within a year».
