“I Want to Be Useful”: Vladyslav Builds a New Chapter of His Life After Injury

Thirty-year-old Vladyslav served as a UAV operator in an assault brigade. Nine months into his service, he sustained leg injuries as a result of an FPV drone strike. He spent more than a year undergoing treatment, and his rehabilitation continues to this day. Vladyslav has been granted Group I disability status.

Yet when you talk to him, what stays with you most are his words: “I want to serve again. I want to be useful in some way.”

For now, he is unable to return to military service, so he is focusing on his recovery and building a new chapter of his life. One of the steps in this journey was joining the “Barrier-Free Driving School” at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.

He learned about the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine’s flagship “Barrier-Free Driving Schools” project during his rehabilitation in Odesa. He completed the training and successfully passed his exams at the MIA Service Centers.

Speaking about the OSSUIA driving school and the services provided by the MIA Service Centers, Vladyslav puts it simply: “Everything is fantastic.”

For him, a driving license is more than just a document. It means mobility, independence, and the freedom to choose his own route.

Accessibility means that, after facing severe challenges, a person is given the support they need to keep moving forward without unnecessary barriers.
