Cybersecurity Club Participated in the All-Ukrainian OSINT Quest
On 23 September, members of the Cybersecurity Club, operating at the Research Laboratory for Current Issues of Criminal Analysis at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs (OSUIA), took part in the VIII All-Ukrainian Quest Competition “Searching for Treasures in the Sea of Information – Online Detective.”
The competition was held in a blended in-person and online format and became the seventeenth event in a series of similar OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) competitions.
This year’s tasks focused on detecting sanctions evasion and involved searching for and analyzing information from publicly available sources. The tasks were similar in complexity and nature to real-world analytical challenges faced by professionals working in security and information analysis.
The participants worked with identifiers, established hidden links between entities, used information clues and analyzed weak signals.
The quest brought together 84 teams and more than 350 participants representing educational institutions from Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and other regions of Ukraine.
For the Cybersecurity Club, participation in such competitions provides an opportunity to test practical OSINT skills, develop analytical thinking, and apply criminal analysis tools in a team-based environment.
