The II International Scientific Conference “Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats” was held at the OSUIA

Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted the II International Scientific Conference “Maritime Security of the Baltic-Black Sea Region: Challenges and Threats”.The co-organizers of the event were: Military Academy (Odesa), Institute of Naval Forces of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”, National University of Water and Environmental Management, National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky, Odesa National Maritime University, Institute of Criminal Law and Applied Criminology (Chisinau), Baltic International Academy, Gdańsk Academy of Physical Education and Sports named after Jędrzej Sniadecki, Center for Ukrainian-European Scientific Cooperation.

Opening the event, the Rector of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets addressed the participants with an introductory speech, noting that holding such a scientific event will provide a significant theoretical basis for the formation and implementation of an effective state maritime policy, which will contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for achieving the goals and objectives of maritime development and maritime security.

The Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Inna Yashchuk addressed the conference with a welcoming speech:

– Today we have united around a huge topical issue – maritime security. And I wish us all a qualitative scientific dialogue so that the resolution of today’s conference would set those reference points that would become the development for legislative, practical initiatives so that we overcome the challenges that we face today.
First Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Borys Voloshenkov wished the scientists creative inspiration, emphasizing the importance of considering scientific issues along with practical ones, to which all efforts are being given at this time.

Deputy Chief of the National Police of Ukraine in Odesa region Oleksandr Hanzha noted that the development of Ukraine as a maritime state is currently constrained by challenges related to threats to the maritime security of the Baltic-Black Sea region, which determine the adoption of a number of legal and organizational measures, as well as the development of strategic directions for ensuring maritime security of the Baltic-Black Sea region.

Deputy Chief of the Military Academy for Scientific Work Denys Lisovenko, Deputy Chief of the Institute of Naval Forces Rostyslav Sharov, Deputy Chief of the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky Dmytro Bobrov, Professor of the Gdańsk Academy of Physical Education and Sports named after Jędrzej Sniadecki (Republic of Poland) Dariusz Skalski, Director and Founder of the publishing house “Helvetica” Oleg Golovko and other honoured guests also addressed the participants of the conference.

As a result of the conference, a resolution was adopted, as well as promising areas of further cooperation and topical issues of the III International Scientific Conference, initiated on the basis of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, were discussed.
