A scientific and methodological seminar was held at the OSUIA “Academic integrity as a basis for quality education and science”

Odesa State University of Internal Affairs hosted a scientific and methodological seminar “Academic Integrity as a Basis for Quality Education and Science”. The event, organized by the University's Education Quality Assurance Department, brought together academic staff, postgraduate students, doctoral students and students interested in improving the level of academic integrity in the educational environment.

The purpose of the seminar was to discuss current challenges in the field of academic integrity, to raise awareness of the principles and standards of academic integrity, and to develop practical recommendations for creating a culture of academic integrity at the university.

The participants discussed the following important issues:

Academic integrity policy in higher education;

Use of information technologies to ensure academic integrity;

Practical advice on citation and bibliography;

The role of the teacher in the formation of academic integrity.

Before the seminar, the participants observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of those who died defending the freedom and independence of Ukraine from the military aggression of the Russian Federation.

The seminar began with a welcoming speech by the Acting First Vice-Rector of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor, Police Colonel Maksym Korniienko.

The speakers were:

Iryna Ryzhenko, leading specialist of the Education Quality Assurance Department;

Natalia Dombrovan, Head of the Department for Organization of Scientific Activities;

Oksana Vytyahanets, head of the general library;

Andrii Babenko, Head of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines of the Institute of Law and Security.

The participants of the seminar actively discussed the issues of academic integrity and shared their experience. As a result of the discussion, a number of practical recommendations were developed to create a culture of academic integrity at the university.
