Information and educational event with the participation of the head of the Police Department of Summerville, South Carolina (USA)
Recently, OSUIA hosted an informational and educational event on «Best Practices in US Law Enforcement», led by Wright Douglas Roy, Sheriff and Chief of Police for the City of Summerville, South Carolina (USA).
Police Major Vadym Filin, Deputy Head of the Department – Head of the Human Rights Compliance Division of the Main Inspection and Human Rights Compliance Department, also joined the event.
During the meeting, the foreign expert shared his experience of organizing police activities in the United States, the specifics of police interaction with the community, and the training and professional development of law enforcement officers. Particular attention was paid to ethical standards, respect for human rights in police work, and preventive approaches to ensuring public safety.
Higher education students had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss common challenges in law enforcement, and compare the experiences of police forces in Ukraine and the United States.
The event was made possible thanks to the direct participation and support of chaplains from the southern region, the cities of Izmail and Odesa.
