Joint training session with representatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Main Department of the National Police in the Odesa Region
Faculty members from the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, together with representatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region, conducted a joint training session for cadets at the Educational and Research Institute for Training Specialists for the Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine and for students at the Institute of Law and Security.
The invited experts provided a detailed and informative overview of:
- the specific nature of the activities of the National Police of Ukraine’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and its response to bomb threats;
- personal safety measures when handling explosive devices;
- Classification of blast-resistant suits and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) suits (bomb suit, blast suit, EOD suit) – a heavy protective armor suit designed to provide limited protection for the wearer’s body against hazards associated with the close detonation of an explosive device;
- classification and principles of operation of explosive objects, explosive substances, and means of initiating an explosion.
