About the Department

Department of tactical - special and special physical training

 

The main tasks of the department include the following activities:

 

training of highly qualified specialists for the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine in particular, following modern law enforcement requirements, who can accurately perform service and combat tasks in everyday activities and the face of a complicated operational situation with the use of weapons and special equipment;

 

conducting research in the core areas of the department's work, training of scientific and pedagogical staff and improving their skills;

 

formation of high moral, volitional and psychologically stable qualities in cadets and students, necessary for the performance of service and combat missions in typical and extreme situations;

 

 development of physical culture and sports and promotion of a healthy lifestyle, popularisation of professional and applied sports.

 

The staff of the department consists of experienced teachers who have practical experience in the internal affairs agencies and the National Police of Ukraine and have repeatedly participated in special operations to detain armed criminals, stop mass disorders, and ensure public order during mass events.

 

Currently, the department employs 14 members of the academic staff, including 5 PhDs, 1 Honoured Coach of Ukraine, 1 Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, 3 Masters of Sports of Ukraine, 2 Candidates for Master of Sports of Ukraine, and 2 certified tactical trainers for law enforcement agencies.

 

The Odesa State University of Internal Affairs is constantly creating a powerful material and technical base that enables high-quality training of future law enforcement officers in the disciplines taught at the department. Thus, the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department conducts practical classes simultaneously at 11 locations, namely

 

Gyms:

 

five indoor gyms - designed for general physical training, special physical training and self-defence tactics, sambo and hand-to-hand combat, as well as training in game sports;

 

 two gyms - designed for general developmental physical exercises and training in weightlifting;

 

four outdoor sports grounds designed for general developmental physical exercises and training in game sports;

 

two obstacle courses - designed to develop vocational skills and comprehensive development of physical qualities, as well as psychological resilience.

 

Tactical training grounds:

 

A multifunctional indoor tactical training area designed to develop tactical skills of police officers in small units - combat orders (patrol police, SOG, district police officers, etc.), during direct contact with criminals, including those armed with firearms, as well as for practicing tactics of detention of particularly dangerous criminals in populated areas in scenarios as close to real as possible, with the development of action algorithms and inductions for different degrees of threat, using simulation weapons (‘airsoft’, ‘paintboll’, ‘SIMUNITION’);

 

multifunctional open tactical camp - designed to practice tactical skills of police officers in small units - combat orders (patrol police, SOG, district police officers, etc.), in open areas, parks, transport conditions (including during violations of public order in rolling stock).
