Peculiarities of service in the police by students of higher education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in peacetime and wartime

On May 17, the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs held a round table “Peculiarities of service in the police by students of higher education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in peacetime and wartime.”

The Vice-Rector of the University, Doctor of Law, Professor Maksym Kornienko addressed the participants with an introductory speech.

The war has changed the lives of many people. Applicants for higher education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine are no exception. Faithful to the oaths, our cadets, masters and adjuncts defended their homeland at the beginning of the war and served side by side with practical police units for 2 months with practitioners. This is an invaluable experience that will undoubtedly leave a mark in the memory and hopefully will affect the awareness of the importance of diligent acquisition of knowledge and skills within Alma mater walls.

The forced exit from the comfort zone has exposed the existing problematic issues in many spheres, including the legal and organizational peculiarities of service in the police by students of the higher education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Legal challenges should be solved exclusively in the legal field, and as it is known, the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police” was promptly amended today, aimed at improving the legal status of cadets and as a result of improving their social security.

The round table became a scientific platform for discussions and debates on urgent issues related to the organization of the educational process in special conditions; social protection of education applicants of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; their legal status and peculiarities of involvement in ensuring public safety and order.

During the survey of the participants of the round table, 127 respondents decided that the largest further research and improvement required the participation of higher education applicants of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in ensuring public safety and order.
