International Round – Table Meeting on Language Training of Police Officers was held at the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs

Scientific events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the educational establishment are ongoing at the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.

On August 4, the International Round – Table Meeting on the topic “Language training of police officers: traditions, perspectives and foreign experience” took place at the University.

The Rector of the University, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Associate Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Colonel of Police, Dmytro Shvets addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcome speech. He emphasized the need to raise the level of communicative culture of practical law enforcement officers, cadets and students of higher education establishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to develop the skills and abilities to consolidate constructive relations with various categories of citizens, including in a foreign language.

Advisory Mission of the European Union Staff, the School of Training of Police Agents named after Vasyl Laskar (Kempina, Romania), scientific and pedagogical staff, cadets  and students of   Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Kherson Faculty of the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko, Odesa Polytechnic State University, Odesa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov, Odesa State Ecological University, Kherson State University took an active part in the discussion.

The  participants  devoted their reports  to the topical issues of language training at the higher education establishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the culture of communication in the official activities of police officers, the prospects for the development of communication technologies in the educational and methodological provision of police training, as well as the foreign language competence of  the  police officers in the context of the European integration of Ukraine.
